Case Study – Untangling a Local Youth Charity’s Network Chaos

Farmhouse Networking technician resolving Ubiquiti network issues for Grants Pass youth charity, fixing wireless dropouts, DHCP conflicts, and camera VLAN segmentation onsite

Farmhouse Networking recently resolved critical network disruptions for a Grants Pass, OR-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility through fitness, aquatics, and educational programs. As Project Lead, our Sr. Network Architect diagnosed and fixed a tangled infrastructure last week, restoring reliable connectivity for staff and clients.

The Challenge

The charity faced intermittent wireless dropouts, unstable VoIP phones, and unreliable camera feeds failing to register in the NVR. Multiple DHCP servers across VLANs created rogue IP conflicts, while cameras suffered from network loops and improper segmentation. Years of patchwork fixes by prior vendors had left poor documentation, overlapping configurations, and no cohesive design—directly impacting daily operations for staff overseeing programs and clients relying on Wi-Fi for check-ins and activities.

Our Solution

Working remotely, the Project Lead reviewed configurations across all Ubiquiti switches, access points, and the cloud controller, with an onsite technician handling physical verification. Key fixes included:

  • Segregating camera traffic into a dedicated switch and VLAN to eliminate loops and multicast issues.

  • Consolidating all APs into the primary switch and VLAN and reconfiguring the cloud controller to end DHCP conflicts.

  • Optimizing switch VLAN assignments for clean segmentation and stable routing.

No internal staff coordination was needed, allowing rapid execution without disrupting charity activities.

Results Delivered

Wireless connectivity stabilized immediately, eliminating client dropouts. Phones achieved consistent uptime, and all cameras registered reliably in the NVR. Overall network reliability improved markedly, enabling seamless program delivery without the prior outages that frustrated staff and participants.

Client Impact

“With Farmhouse Networking’s swift intervention, our network went from constant headaches to rock-solid performance. Staff can now focus on empowering kids through fitness and education, not troubleshooting Wi-Fi or cameras.”

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. - 2 Corinthians 9:8-10
