Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What positions is Farmhouse Networking hiring for?
We hire across multiple functions depending on current need. Technical roles: help desk, field technicians, network engineers, and cybersecurity specialists, are the most frequent openings. We also hire for sales, project management, administrative support, and bookkeeping. If you have a skill set that could serve a growing MSP and you believe you are the right fit, we encourage you to apply regardless of whether your exact role is listed. The form on this page lets you tell us your superpower and we will figure out where it fits.
Are positions full-time, part-time, or contract?
Most positions begin as contractor engagements with a 90-day probationary period. Candidates who are a strong fit transition to hire after that period. We use the contractor phase to ensure the relationship works well for both sides before making a longer-term commitment. We want people who want to be here – and we want to earn that commitment in return.
Is this a remote, in-office, or hybrid role?
Most of our positions are work-from-home. As we continue to expand into new service markets, we are actively looking for technicians who can provide hybrid support to clients in those regions. If you are located in or near one of our service markets – across Oregon, New Mexico, and Northern California – and you are open to a field component, that is worth noting in your application.
Do I need certifications to apply?
No. Certifications are not a requirement to apply and we do not screen out candidates who lack them. What matters more to us is the right mindset, strong problem-solving instincts, and the personal attributes that make someone effective in the role they are applying for. We have hired people with little or no formal IT experience who turned out to be exceptional. If you have certifications, great. If you do not but you have the aptitude and attitude, apply anyway.
Do you support continuing education and certification?
Yes, and this is something we take seriously. We have paid for advanced cybersecurity training through TryHackMe for staff and we are actively looking for additional opportunities to invest in our team’s development. We work with new hires to identify the training and certifications that will advance their career in the direction that is best for them. Structured onboarding is in place for all new staff, along with hands-on training on the tools and platforms they will be using in their role.
What does the training and mentorship actually look like?
We operate in a collaborative environment where mentorship happens across multiple levels – from senior technicians, from other departments, and from leadership. This is not a sink-or-swim environment where new hires are expected to figure things out alone. Onboarding is structured, questions are welcomed, and the team is genuinely invested in helping each other develop. If you have come from a large IT environment where you felt invisible, this will feel different.
What makes working at Farmhouse Networking different from a larger IT firm?
At a large firm you are a ticket number. Here you are part of a small, intentional team where your work is visible, your growth is supported, and the company’s mission is something you can understand and connect to. We serve healthcare practices, accounting firms, nonprofits, churches, and defense contractors – real organizations with real stakes in their technology working correctly. The problems are varied, the clients are meaningful, and the team around you is invested in doing excellent work. You will not be processing the same tier-1 tickets for years waiting for a promotion that never comes.
What is the culture like at Farmhouse Networking?
We have a culture of faith. We begin each day together with prayer, Bible reading, and collaborative discussion about current client needs. Our faith is not incidental to how we operate – it shapes how we treat clients, how we support each other, and how we approach the work. We walk alongside our employees through all stages and struggles of life, offering whatever support and resources we can, including prayer. We are not the right fit for everyone, and we believe it is better to be honest about that upfront. Candidates who share these values tend to thrive here. Candidates who do not are better served knowing that before an interview.
What does a typical day look like for a Farmhouse Networking technician?
The day begins with a team check-in – prayer, scripture, and a review of active client situations. From there, technicians work through their assigned tickets, which range from routine maintenance and monitoring tasks to complex troubleshooting, compliance work, and client projects. Because we serve regulated industries, the problems are rarely trivial. You will be working in EHR environments, compliance frameworks, cybersecurity tools, RMM platforms, and cloud infrastructure. The variety is high and the expectation is that you bring genuine problem-solving ability to what you encounter.
What is the compensation like?
We pay at the top end of the market for every position we hire. We are not interested in haggling over compensation — we want to hire the best people and pay them accordingly. Our compensation package is continuing to grow as the company grows, and we are committed to making it worthy of the team we are building. Specific figures are discussed during the interview process based on the role and the candidate’s experience.
Is there room to grow at Farmhouse Networking?
Yes. We are a growing company expanding into new service markets, adding new service capabilities, and taking on more complex engagements. That growth creates real opportunity for people who perform well and want to take on more responsibility. We are not a company where career advancement means waiting for someone above you to leave. If you demonstrate the capability and the character, there is room to grow.
What is the application and hiring process?
Submitting the form on this page sends your information to us for review. Applications are triaged for fit with current openings. Candidates who are a strong match are contacted for a first interview – an introduction and conversation to see if there is mutual fit. If that goes well, we conduct reference and employment checks. Candidates who pass that stage are invited to a second interview. A hiring decision is made after the second interview. All applications are held in strict confidence.
