Charitable Giving to Care for Needs of Others

Purpose

As a business member of the local community, and the greater business communities of the nation, Farmhouse Networking is committed to support non-profit organizations by providing in-kind IT services and computer / networking hardware at low or no-cost to the areas that we serve. We do this to guide, assist, and empower non-profits in the use of tech to enhance their ability to serve their clients needs and accomplish their vision.

Guidelines:

We recognize the important role we play as a business community member and we want to support select organizations. Farmhouse Networking has established a policy to address donation requests. Each request is assessed to determine if it meets Farmhouse Networking’s contribution objectives. We are unable to proceed with requests for support that do not fit within our contribution objectives.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does Farmhouse Networking give back?

We are a business built inside communities that have supported us since 2015. The organizations on this page – churches, food banks, schools, disability advocates, re-entry programs — are doing work that matters to the people we live and work alongside. Giving back is not a marketing program. It is a reflection of what we believe a business owes to the community that sustains it. The scripture at the bottom of this page is not decoration – it describes how we think about what we have been given and what we are called to share.

What does an in-kind donation mean?

An in-kind donation is a contribution of services or goods rather than cash. Farmhouse Networking does not make cash donations. Instead, we donate our time, expertise, and hardware – things like managed IT services, tech consulting, remote access software, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace setup, QuickBooks configuration, and computer and networking equipment. For a nonprofit with a limited technology budget, in-kind IT support can be worth significantly more than a cash donation of equivalent value.

Do you donate cash, or only services and hardware?

Services and hardware only. We do not make cash donations. What we give is our team’s time and expertise, access to software platforms at no or reduced cost through nonprofit licensing programs, and computer and networking hardware when available through our clients’ equipment refresh cycles. If your organization needs cash funding, we are not the right resource – but if you need technology help, we may be exactly the right one.

What are your contribution objectives?

We support organizations whose missions align with ours. The areas we focus on are Christian churches and faith-based charitable organizations, organizations that serve the needs of disabled individuals and senior citizens, organizations that support the positive re-introduction of people returning from incarceration, organizations that advocate for and support children, and organizations that advocate for small business in local communities. We do not donate to political organizations or individuals seeking personal support.

Does my organization need to be a registered 501(c)(3)?

Yes. We only consider credible 501(c)(3) organizations with a demonstrated record of accomplishment. Your EIN is required as part of the application. If your organization is in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status but has not yet received it, we are not able to consider your application at this time.

What information do we need to submit an application?

Your application should include your organization’s name, address, and phone number, your 501(c)(3) EIN, your mission statement, an explanation of how your organization meets our contribution objectives, a description of what kind of donation you are seeking, and information about what portion of your budget is funded by donations or grants. The more clearly you can connect your mission to our giving areas, the stronger your application will be.

What happens after we submit a request?

Your application goes to our board of directors for review. The board evaluates whether the organization and its needs align with our contribution objectives. A decision is typically made within seven days of receiving a complete application. We will follow up with you directly to let you know the outcome.

What if our application is not selected?

Not every application is a fit, and that does not reflect on the value of your organization’s work. Our giving decisions are based on alignment with our specific contribution objectives and the availability of resources we can offer. If your application is not selected, you are welcome to reapply if your organization’s needs change or if a future giving cycle presents a better fit.

Is the support ongoing, or a one-time contribution?

There is no set timeline on our giving relationships. Several of the organizations we support have been with us since 2016, nearly a decade, because the need has continued and we have been able to meet it. We do not make annual commitments or set end dates. If an organization continues to have a need that we can fulfill and our relationship remains a strong fit, we continue to serve. The relationships on this page are built on consistency, not contracts.

Is there a limit to the value of in-kind services you donate?

For in-kind services: IT consulting, managed IT support, software setup and management, there is no fixed cap. As long as an organization is aligned with our giving objectives and we have the capacity to help, we give what is needed. Hardware donations are a different situation – those depend on what equipment becomes available through our clients’ upgrade cycles and what we are able to redistribute. Hardware availability varies and cannot be guaranteed, but we match organizations to available equipment as it comes in.

Do you only support organizations in your service area?

We prefer to give back to the communities that support our business – our service markets across Oregon, New Mexico, and Northern California. That said, we have supported organizations with broader or worldwide missions when the alignment with our contribution objectives is strong. Geography is a preference, not a hard rule. If your organization is based outside our service area but its mission resonates with what we care about, we encourage you to apply.

Can a business or client refer a nonprofit organization?

Yes, and we welcome it. If you are a current client or a member of a community we serve and you know of an organization doing meaningful work that fits our giving objectives, send them our way. Referrals are a natural extension of the community relationships we are here to serve.

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. - 2 Corinthians 9:8-10
