Case Study – Expand Server Storage

Expand Server Storage - Clackmas County, OR

Executive Summary:
Accounting firm in Grants Pass, OR had run out of usable space on their server. The firm had purchased the server within the past two years and wanted to keep the current hardware. Detailed research, extensive testing and a smooth install from expert technicians provided them with the following:

  • Implementing a solution without taking down the production network
  • Expanding available shared storage space on server
  • Maintain current server performance

Challenges:
Current server had been created with slow file storage growth in mind, but recent changes by their tax software provider had taken up all available storage in a short period of time. The current server was configured with a RAID 5 that did not allow for expansion. Production network cannot have downtime due to tax season starting shortly.

Solution:
Extensive research determined best course of action for server expansion. Interfaced with vendor support to determine best unit and pricing. Installed expansion unit on network and connected to server. Migrated shares to expansion unit and re-sized server drives to reclaim unused space.

Results:
Customer was able to smoothly transition to the expansion unit. They now have 20x storage space with room to expand. This unit can also function as their backup device once the contract with their current vendor runs out.

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. - 2 Corinthians 9:8-10
